Los Angeles, CA (August 3, 2009) – The long wait for Atreyu fans is over. The Orange County rock pioneers have completed the follow-up to 2007’s highly acclaimed Lead Sails Paper Anchor. The album, titled Congregation of the Damned, produced by Bob Marlette (Airborne, Ozzy Osbourne) and mixed by Rich Costey (Mars Volta, System of A Down, Rage Against the Machine),will be released October 27. A fall co-headlining tour with Hollywood Undead is set to kick off on October 16th at The Pavilion in Lubbock, TX.
“I wrote the line ‘congregation of the damned’ for one of the songs on the album and it got me thinking,” says vocalist Alex Varkatzas. “It kind of feels like in a lot of ways that we, as members of a society, are just gathering around and collectively getting fucked over. When you look at what’s going on in our economy and how other people treat each other, it’s kind of like we’re all just lemmings. We’re lined up blankly staring blindly at nothing and just going along with the flow like a congregation of the damned. So this record really reflects my thoughts and feelings about that in every possible way.”
While Congregation of the Damned addresses some dark, troubling subject matter, creating the album was far from a struggle. The band starting writing new material in January 2009 and by the time they entered Henson Studios in Los Angeles with producer Bob Marlette, they had 25 new songs.
“I think this is the longest our band has ever had laser-like focus on an album,” Varkatzas says. “We were all working together really well and we had a great time in the studio with Bob, who we called BeelzeBob. He’s this jovial cigar-smoking, goatee-sporting dude from Nebraska, and he really helped us fine tune the material and nail our best performances.”
While Congregation of the Damned features some of the band’s heaviest riffs ever on tracks like “You Were the King, Now You’re Unconscious” and “Bleeding Is A Luxury,” it also contains some of truly delicate and sentimental moments, including piano ballad “Wait For You.”
“That one’s just a beautiful song, and if you don’t like it, you don’t have a heart,” Varkatzas says. “I’d say that this album is a mix of everything we’ve ever done. For every song that’s more melodic or rock-driven there’s a total shitkicker, and I think that’s what makes us a well-rounded band.”
Atreyu will kick off a fall co-headlining tour with Hollywood Undead and will remain on the road throughout most of 2010.
“The new set is gonna feature a lot of songs from ‘Congregation’ plus a bunch of other stuff,” Varkatzas says. “We’re just really happy with the album and we can’t wait to play it for people live.”
CONGREGATION OF THE DAMNED is the follow up to Atreyu’s 2007’s release LEAD SAILS PAPER ANCHOR which has sold over 300,000 copies to date. Fueled by the Top 5 Active Rock hit “Becoming The Bull” and the #2 charting Alternative Rock hit “Falling Down,” the disc rocketed onto Billboard’s Rock and Hard Rock Album Charts at #1 and on Billboard’s Top 200 debuting at #8, making it the highest-charting album of the band’s career and landing them on the cover of Revolver Magazine, who called the disc "a coffin-tight collection of singles...the potential for hugeness is all over these 11 tunes...," while Metal Hammer declared it "a truly landmark album."
Atreyu has shared stages alongside Linkin Park on last year's Projekt Revolution tour, with Korn and Evanescence on the Family Values Tour, co-headlined the Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour with Avenged Sevenfold and will co-headline a fall 2009 tour with Hollywood Undead.
Hardcore-rock band Every Time I Die announce new album and fall tour
July 14, 2009 – Los Angeles, CA. – Warning: an excess of blood, sweat and beers were spilled during the making of 2009's most anticipated hardcore-rock album, Every Time I Die's New Junk Aesthetic, out Sept 15 via Epitaph. Thankfully the band has emerged relatively unscathed and more than ready to rouse the hellion legions with their most brutally delectable record yet, and all in time for their upcoming fall "Epitaph Presents" tour.
While there's no exact science to the resulting madness that is ETID's signature blend of turned-to-eleven hardcore mixed with southern-fried metal, over the last decade the band has consistently produced fan-favorite releases from albums Big Dirty to Hot Damn!, with New Junk Aesthetic as icing on the proverbial metallic cake.
"New Junk Aesthetic is not the next logical step in the progression of Every Time I Die," explains front-man Keith Buckley. "It is an evolutionary leap. It's as if we have morphed from a single-celled bacteria straight to the guy with the dirt bike that will let you watch his older sister suntan if you steal him a smoke from your parents. Certainly you may acknowledge similarities, but on a grand scale, they stand light years apart."
Maniacal, convulsive and completely unpredictable are but a few words that come to mind when listening to New Junk Aesthetic. With Big Dirty producer Steve Evetts at the helm again, ETID set out to corrupt souls and bring fans to their knees with an orchestrated chaos of their heaviest most skillful album.
Like the calm before a storm, New Junk Aesthetic opens with the metal-gazer, doom-ridden track "Roman Holiday," and then quickly segues like a sucker-punch into the thrashing first single, "The Marvelous Slut" (featuring guest vocals from Greg Puciato of Dillinger Escape Plan), which sets the tone for the remainder of the album. ETID continues to raise the bar on all fronts, from Andy Williams and Jordan Buckley's one-two punch on guitars to Josh Newton's brutish bass rumblings on "For The Record" and Keith Buckley's stunning vocal range as showcased in the standout thunderous-rock anthem "Wanderlust." On the pit-swirler "The Sweet Life, Keith belts out "ain't nothing gonna break my stride - ain't nothing gonna slow me down,"," which features guest vocals from Matt Caughthran (The Bronx), and pretty much sums up the relentless energy of the band and new album.
As visually stunning as they are musically, guitarist Jordan Buckley has been the artistic force behind the ETID's graphics. The astonishing cover imagery of New Junk Aesthetic features a mythological god covering his eyes with see-through hands and each song is represented by its own unique artwork.
"Aside from contributing to the creation of the 13 greatest Every Time I Die songs ever written, New Junk Aesthetic will also contain almost 40 pages of my hand rendered illustrations, that, for the first time ever, offer visual insight into the genius lyrics that ETID fans have come to expect from my brother and bandmate Keith," explains guitarist Jordan Buckley. "With the band in complete control over what you hear, see and hold, New Junk Aesthetic will move culture into a place where the possession of a CD is an authentic experience so powerful that you won't even be able to cover your eyes; a feeling long overdue, but guaranteed to be worth the wait."
ETID will co-headline the "Epitaph Presents" tour along with labelmates Bring Me The Horizon beginning Sept 8 in support of New Junk Aesthetic. Tickets are on sale now at Livenation.com.

EMI ROCKERS TEAM UP WITH LIFESTYLE & MUSIC RETAILER FOR
“HELLO MY NAME IS…” PROGRAM THIS SPRING
FEATURING EXCLUSIVE MUSICAL PERFORMANCE & MERCHANDISE
Los Angeles, CA – Lifestyle and music-oriented retailer Hot Topic and up-and-coming rockers Crooked X (MPM/EMI/Capitol) are teaming up for Hot Topic’s “Hello My Name is…” program this Spring during the Disturbed’s Music As A Weapon tour -- a multi-city, nine-week music, tattoo, and lifestyle festival. From April 4th to May 8th, fans will have the chance to meet Crooked X and see them perform live acoustic shows at private concerts in four select Hot Topic locations.
Through local radio promotional tie-ins, fans can go into their hosting Hot Topic store and purchase either Crooked X’s self-titled debut or any Crooked X t-shirt to receive a sticker that gives them access into these exclusive events. The first 30 fans to get a sticker will also receive a wristband that gets them access to a private Crooked X acoustic set on the same day of the event.
With Hot Topic’s early on support for the budding new band, they hope to create the possibility for music lovers to discover the band’s edgy sound while also providing new avenue for fans to interact with Crooked X on a very personal level.
Hot Topic will feature Crooked X “GOT NO SHAME” t-shirts, to be sold exclusively through Hot Topic [nationwide] along with other Crooked X merchandise developed in partnership with AEG’s Band Merch, the band’s exclusive merchandise partner. The shirt ties into the band’s new single and video, GONE. The relationship was negotiated with Hot Topic by EMI’s Matt Sawin and CX co-manager and producer, Spencer Proffer of McGhee Proffer Media.
The Disturbed’s Music As A Weapon tour is a music, tattoo, and lifestyle festival—presented by Samsung Mobile and powered by Sprint. Crooked X will rock The Ernie Ball Second Stage, which will be officially sponsored by multi-city battle of the bands organization Headbang For the Highway www.myspace.com/headbangforthehighway , a 38-city, nine-week trek.
Crooked X is Forrest French (vocals, guitar), Jesse Cooper (lead guitar, vocals), Josh McDowell (bass) and Boomer Simpson (drums). Crooked X channeled their youthful agro-energy, hopes, and hormones into a 10-song, self-titled debut album rife with searing guitars, passionate vocals and intense, radio-ready heavy rock. Their organic sound was inspired by the ‘70s, but boasts a new millennium sound. Amazingly, the members of Crooked X --who have been friends and playing music since fifth grade—are now only 14, mere high school freshmen in Coweta, OK (population 7,000). Guitarist Jesse Cooper emphasizes: “We don’t want to be looked at for our age, because our music is good for any age. And, YES, we do write our own songs.” Crooked X cites everything from Pantera to Hank Williams Sr. to Metallica as influences, and share songwriting and lyrical duties for a true full-band collaboration. Crooked X’s MPM/EMI/Capitol self-titled debut (out January 27, 2009) features the dark riffs of “Nightmare” (featured in Rock Band™), the first single, “Rock & Roll Dream,” and “Adrenaline,” the subject of a Wayne Isham-directed video. Even before scoring their 2008 deal with EMI, Crooked X were opening for KISS in Europe, touring with Ted Nugent, and released (on October 7th, 2008) a digital-only release of the three-song EP, Til We Bleed, for rabid fans of all ages.
Markets for Crooked X’s “Hello My Name is…” appearances at Hot Topic are:
April 4: McCain Mall, North Little Rock, AR
April 7: Cordova Mall, Pensacola, FL
April 8: Gwinnett Place, Duluth, GA
May 8: Blaine, MN
Boomer, Forrest, Jesse and Josh aren't your normal teenage boys from rural Oklahoma, they're also Crooked X- the next generation of rock. CROOKED X: ROCK N ROLL DREAM follows their incredible journey from tiny local gigs to opening for KISS in Europe. Their friendship and passion for music has brought them this far, but can four 15 year old boys rock a crowd five times the size of their hometown?
